Building Champions, Strengthening Community
Taekwondo is not only a martial art - it is also a dynamic Olympic sport practiced competitively at all levels around the world. In Switzerland, competitive Taekwondo is a growing and vibrant part of the national sport landscape, providing athletes of all ages with structured pathways to test their skills, build character, and achieve excellence.
As the national governing body for World Taekwondo (WT) disciplines, Swiss Taekwondo organizes and oversees official competitions, rankings, and national team selections. We are also a proud member of Swiss Olympic, and we contribute to the development of high-performance sport in Switzerland.
A Structured Pathway
Swiss Taekwondo supports athletes from local clubs to the highest international arenas. The competitive journey includes:
- Club and regional tournaments
- National Championships in both Kyorugi (sparring) and Poomsae (forms)
- Ranking events and league competitions
- Swiss National Team programs for elite athletes
- Coach and referee certification aligned with WT standards
For young practitioners, these events are a chance to grow in confidence, test their abilities, and experience the spirit of fair competition. For advanced athletes, it is a gateway to international performance and long-term sporting development.
International Presence
Swiss athletes regularly compete in international competitions including:
- European and World Championships
- WT President’s Cup and Open events
- European Club Championships
- Youth and Cadet competitions
- World Taekwondo Grand Prix and G-rank tournaments
Athletes selected to represent Switzerland are supported through national training programs, performance tracking, and preparation aligned with Swiss Olympic’s high-performance framework.
Our elite athletes serve as role models for the next generation, demonstrating that discipline, perseverance, and integrity can lead to success on and off the mat.
More Than Medals
Competitive Taekwondo builds more than champions - it builds resilient, focused individuals and strong, inclusive communities. Swiss Taekwondo places great emphasis on ethical competition, anti-doping education, and fairness, in close coordination with both Swiss Olympic and international sport governance bodies.
