Intensive Training Camp in Maria Alm: Swiss National Kyorugi Team in International Exchange
The Swiss Taekwondo National Team and its youth athletes have returned from an intense and inspiring week of training. In Maria Alm, Austria, over 120 athletes from five countries – Austria, Germany, Ukraine, Slovenia, and Switzerland – came together for a high-level training camp.
The sessions were led by the respective country’s team coaches: Gerhard Huber (Austria, also the camp’s organizer), Axel Müller and Alex Berghammer (Germany), Kristijan Kovacic (Slovenia), and Peer Steinkellner (Switzerland).
Athletes were divided into two training groups: Cadets & Juniors I, and Juniors II & Seniors. The energy and motivation were high – the camp not only challenged participants physically but also provided new technical and mental impulses. Especially valuable was the exchange with other athletes: training alongside peers from different countries raised the level of performance, fostered team spirit, and opened up new perspectives.
“The camp takes place annually and is a fantastic opportunity for our athletes to train with international top performers, learn new techniques, and prepare for upcoming competitions,” says Peer Steinkellner, head coach of the Swiss Kyorugi National Team.
